Tagaytay City is a popular tourist destination because of its cool climate, beautiful scenery and proximity to Manila. Its high altitude offers spectacular view of the Taal Volcano and Lake in Batangas.
Just a few kilometers away from the buzzling Metro Manila, Tagaytay offers an easy escape and relaxing respite from the heat, noise and grime of the big city. It is about an hour and 15 minutes drive from Manila via the South Luzon Expressway, exiting at Santa Rosa then via Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road. It can also be reached via the Coastal Road Expressway and then taking Aguinaldo Highway heading south towards Tagaytay.
The Tagaytay Picnic Grove, located in Barangay Sungay East, is probably the most popular and cheapest tourist attraction in Tagaytay. Located along the slopes of the Tagaytay Ridge, the park offers unobstructed view of Taal Volcano and lake below. There are rows of picnic huts that can be rented to enjoy the magnificent view while having lunch picnic style. The price varies according to the size of the hut and ranges from P100 to P250. Barbecue grills are also available. Other attraction inside picnic grove are horseback riding, zipline and cable car rides.
Another interesting location in Tagaytay is the People's Park In The Sky which is a complex of man made and natural attractions built by former President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda during their heyday as a venue for entertaining high profile guests. The park sits on the highest point of Tagaytay City and the province of Cavite and offers magnificent views of Taal Lake, Balayan Bay, Laguna de Bay, Manila Bay and nearby mountains.
